On November 8, 2025 (Saturday), I participated in the “Bamboo Hell Transit Market,” held in Beppu City, Japan.
This event was designed to reframe Beppu not as a place people merely pass through (“transit”), but as a crossroads where culture, creativity, and local expression intersect.
Creators from a wide range of fields—including food, crafts, and art—came together to create an open and vibrant space where everyday life and artistic expression naturally overlapped.
By presenting bamboo-based work within the context of a public market, the experience extended beyond the artwork itself. Visitors were able to engage not only with the forms on display, but also with the material itself, its cultural background, and the stories embedded in bamboo as a living resource.
